Wahlberg, Zoolander. Poteto, Potato. Wearing the Makia Rib-Knit Jacket

Bachelor parties are all about having the opportunity to be part of activities the so called “new partner” would not approve of. So we threw a stag day for our dear old friend of ours that was one to remember. Yes we had strippers and beer like you’re supposed to, but we also did something else this time. Nothing rad, just dressed him up into a gipsy and setup a Makia spring collection photo-shoot one early saturday morning at our studio. And this frame was the best one we’ve got. Didn’t get a spot in the upcoming catalogue, but he sure did deserve a big one in our hearts.

Told you it was a day to remember, we have a photo to remind us :

Faces & Laces Exhibition, 24-25.4.2009, Moscow

It was third time the interactive exhibition project  Faces and Laces  took place in Moscow about a month ago. The show is a meeting place for communication of various subcultures representatives and their intersections: sneakers, street wear, graffiti, street art, illustration and music. The aim is a unity of those who love what they do. Thats our philosophy, so we participated for the first time this year. For Russian fashion geeks, you can find some Makia gear at Coalition Shop (http://www.coalition.su/)  in St.Petersburg. Moscow is definitely up next for us. The city have a strong up and rising fashion life that features fine streetwear blogs, new local media issues with loads of informative articles on the subject. So keep your eyes open for some shots from our direction.

From Moscow with love.

Captain Rastivo, and a sneak peek of Summer 2010.

Sick Ohoi!

Hung out with Ansse Rastivo in our favourite sailor restaurant Sea Horse the whole morning yesterday, wrapped up a photo-shoot, and gave our photographers white trash punk van a facelift.  Flag taping went bad so we replaced it with stencil and almost drove the bag of crap through a garage door. Don’t jurt do it : do it!

All this after sitting in a similar sailor friendly bar until 4 am the night before.

As Lars Erik Frederiksen would put it, f**k it!

Costo & Makia Collaboration Hat

"The Hat" - Comes in 5 different fabrics. Makia Steel Flag placed in neck seam. Just like Steady Eddie would do it.

Costo & Makia – Supporting The Planet, Together.

Why bother? Because good taste is not all that indifferent, and sustainability is a serious matter! Costo use recycled material and craftsmanship. They apply forms that they have found age old as well as concurrent.

Both Makia and Costo come from small cellars in Punavuori, Helsinki (we are actually neighbors, could dig a small tunnel between us!).  Both companies have the same way of thinking, and now they have a hat together.

Toilet talk : CTRL your Moment

Have this ever happened to you? Kind of eager to go out for a couple of beers when friends are calling to see if you are up for it. You’d like to go, but something tells you not to. Well this happened yesterday. Just found this image posted on a friends blog. Starring the exact same persons that was sending the “come for ONE beer” at 11.30 PM.  Now for you who don’t know who’s in the picture, here is a short introduction. The guy giving that stiff nordic finger is Heppu Pentti, working for a up and coming Advertising & Beyond agency in Helsinki called Sherpa. Good friend of ours, check www.sherpaagency.fi. You will stumble into this hero in our upcoming FW 09-10 catalogue. The one getting pointed at is Esa Hytonen from CTRL clothing.  Also featured in our next catalogue. CTRL is the most known Finnish street-wear brand throughout history. Visit them at www.ctrlclothing.com. The one in the mirror capturing this frame is Ansse Rastivo, also a hard working Sherpa and the lead designer for White Moment (www.whtmoment.com). Ansse is designing some Makia prints for next summer that will pop up on this webpage sooner than later.

To mix a Makia fellow into this picture would have been too much. Joining them last night would have led up to infernal mayhem. Too good friends, too much in common, and way too much love and dedication for beer, cranberry vodka and business talk.  Point is : Stay home if you know something will go down.

Damn that we missed the moment. Bummer!
