Meet Lozza, a man in black. We love his absolute commitment in nomading his own way. Apart from his photography work, lozzaphoto.com, we found the one boundary Lozza isn’t going to break. It’s wearing a t-shirt that is not black. Lozza wears Makia Old Anchor T-shirt and his own and aged Button Up Hooded Sweatshirt he wears practically all the time.

In Hossegor we met a human substitute for the golden retriever, Simon MacGregor. Without this breed, people wouldn’t be jumping over the Great Wall of China on skateboards. We owe him a lot and so do a big bunch of pro athletes. Simon wears Mad Gardener Shirt, Brown Steel Flag Cardigan and Six Pocket Trousers.

With Ansse Rastivo, a charming idea can come up from anything (usually something others wouldn’t stop at). This time it was sauna and friends that inspired him to design a line of T-shirts and a bag, dedicated to a childhood by the sea and four sailorish restaurants in Helsinki. Ansse practically lives at thesherpaagency.com. Laatat, fak jes. Ansse wears Off White / Grey Hooded Stripe Knit, White Seahorse T-shirt, Navy Six Pocket Trousers and Navy Sailor Bag.

David Pitschi from Billabong reminded us of the power of yes. We were in the middle of a forest planted by Napoleon, wanting to shoot. One phone call to a complete stranger – and an hour later we had a brilliant photo of this brave man. Anything is possible when people say yes. Say yes. David wears Black Herringbone Jacket.

This is Hessu. We love him because he entrusted us with a secret: Anything with a Fenchurch logo stuck in it will sell a lot. So that’s exactly what we did: stuck a Fenchurch logo in our catalogue. And Hessu too. Hessu wears The Immu Shirt, Six Pocket Trousers and Black Sailor Bag.

35 years old. Born in Finland. Grew up in Austria, Germany, France, Japan etc. Speaks nine languages. Always very committed and doesn’t stop until he gets what he wants. Has a perfect girlfriend (see next spread). Studied Musical theory, English and Japanese, Economics and Marketing. History in Advertising Management, Creative Director, Video Editing and Music. Passionate about working with his hands and breathing new life into things. Has designed and borrowed his name to the shirt he’s wearing. Some people even say that he is the founding father of Makia. Too bad we had to let him go. Now he has to work as the Director of Marketing at Burton Snowboards. Meet Ivar Fougstedt. Ivar wears the original 2002 version of Ivar T-shirt.

Meet Carmela, a fine smelling dudette. She’s the first lady ever to grace our catalogue. Hope she’s also the first to wear our women’s clothes whenever they’re given birth to. Meanwhile have a sniff at lesettes.com Carmela wears Brown Button Up Hooded Sweatshirt.

James Digby-Jones, an enemy of good. Actually, with this shot, he insisted that the photographer removed the littlest of spots on his chin. So we removed it to page 55 (see the guy on the right). The perfection of James’ photographic retouching is to seen at saddingtonbaynes.com
James wears Black Rib Knit Jacket and Makia Brown & Brass Leather Belt.

Markus is our favorite indian. He makes his own bread. He makes most of his clothes. He hunts or grows almost all he eats. He’s living in a house he says takes 20 years to renovate. He laughed at our suggestion about photographing him. If we had a test-driving program like Ferrari’s, we’d ask for him. Markus wears a shotgun, a hunting dog, Combination Jacket, Cream & Brass Canvas Belt and Grey Regular Fit Five Pocket Jeans.

Besides being a marketing manager for Element Skateboards, Philippe Lalemant is also the proud owner of a dog called Lucky. Lucky designed this one-off and unique piece called The Phil Sweatshirt. It will be sold at eBay for charity. Phil wears The Phil Sweatshirt, which was a bit earlier a Light Grey Steel Flag Sweatshirt.

This is Thomas Rütti, wearing the T-shirt he designed for us. We love his ideology of always doing the best for the stuff he likes and saying no to the wrong. To live by his word 24/7, he has his home and office packed in the same building– and the co-worker is his girlfriend. Meet them at dashing-bash.com. Thomas wears Makia Leather Jacket, Zurich-1 T-shirt and washed Blue Regular Fit Five Pocket Jeans.

Eric Conyers is the king of “dad marketing”. He has a very rare gift: he can imagine an idea as a grown-up when it’s just a hazy seed. He trusts in unique ideas, carries them like babies and shelters their way through the no’s and buts. Little wonder that the man and his ideas have made it a long way since he was working at a skate shop in Pomona. Eric wears White Pocket T-shirt.

Marco and Thomas are the leaders of Bright Brigade. Probably the only guys in the world to take over a police station in the name of friendship – sharing the experiences and ideas with sport, art, music, fashion and business. We love the whole family feeling and highly recommend brighttradeshow.com, especially the room 154. Marco wears White Flag Pattern T-shirt. Thomas wears Raglan Jacket and Navy Leather Makia & St.Vacant Shoes.

We were supposed to shoot Werner at St. Tropez bars, but not a single restaurant there would allow him to enter in shorts and sneakers. So here is a consult who looks like a model, dipping olive to a water that looks like a martini, in a living room that looks like a restaurant. Werner wears Black Herringbone Shorts and White Leather Makia & St.Vacant shoes.

Steve Douglas and Sami Seppälä, from Dwindle Distribution, are true evangelists of “yes, you can”. We drove 1300 km overnight to have a photo and a conversation with them. Was it worth it? Hey, Steve has sold more skateboarding companies than many skateboarding companies have sold skateboards.
Just listen to him: During my whole life, people have told me things I cannot and should not do, but I have found no better personal feeling than doing things that people say you can’t. One of my favorite quotes is “the largest gap in the world is between I should of and I did”. Sami is by the way the only model we’ve got to sleep with. Steve wears Navy & Grey V-neck Stripe Knit. Sami wears Red Button Up Hooded Sweatshirt.
